Should a date’s true personal tastes be completely laid on the table upfront or slowly discovered when inviting us for a drink at their place? At least when it comes to mood-setting music, maybe looping Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On for an hour isn’t quite the right chord to strike. Not that I speak of personal experiences. At All.
UK duo The MeMeMe’s managed to concoct what I really like to offer as a “first impression” when inviting a date at home for the first time. Their vocals and acoustics bring the perfect smooth ambiance without ever veering into cheesy nor intrusive, while also demonstrating a sense of taste and cultural knowledge coming from the host who plays them. Quirky texts can’t hurt either, especially in this case with the total absence of percussion, as to throw out the window any chance of an aggressive or annoying mood. Not to mention that having someone discover addictive new music ensures their return in your lair.
Unfortunately, The MeMeMe’s first album isn’t out for your money to buy yet, but they do have a few singles available to download either on their Official Site (more of a MySpace page, but you know, better than nothing…) or any self-respecting online music outlet. Just have a look at their absolutely cute video down below (fittingly titled The Skin Between Us), and tell me you don’t wanna listen to it again and again. With someone else. At home. Over drinks.
