Gaining extra winter weight, affects us all. Even dating sites. International dating site BeautifulPeople.com, has recently imposed a strict ban on “ugly people” for the new year. What’s ugly to BeautifulPeople.com? Overweight people. To enforce the ban, the site canned at least 5,000 people from their site for being overweight. Not only is this an incredibly insensitive and terrible move, one has to wonder: How do they expect to do business? Surely 5,000 lost accounts equates to a sizable financial lost. That’s enough people to start ANOTHER dating site.
BeautifulPeople.com founder Robert Hintz has this much to say about the recent action:
As a business, we mourn the loss of any member, but the fact remains that our members demand the high standard of beauty be upheld,” said Robert Hintze, founder of BeautifulPeople.com. “Letting fatties roam the site is a direct threat to our business model and the very concept for which BeautifulPeople.com was founded.”
Overweight daters were told via email that their accounts were to be suspended until they lose weight. Each email detailed a variety of weight loss options from boot camps to local gyms. I wonder if this also served as advertising for weight loss services?
Whatever the case maybe, we should all be lucky to know that BeautifulPeople.com isn’t the only dating site that exists.
Has winter weight affected your dating life?

Wow. I mean, I guess they have the right to do whatever they feel like? But wooow. That’s horrible. And insensitive. -_-
