A Craigslist personals ad has been making the blogosphere rounds not because it’s an actual ad, but a laundry list of reasons why a particular man refused to buy a woman a drink at bar. Apparently this man felt it was really important to let all women know why women aren’t entitled to free drinks.

My philosophy behind free drinks at bars is; If it’s offered, accept it. And that’s that. What’s your stance on accepting/receiving drinks at bars?

Yay! Someone who gets it! :)

^ Yeah, this guy does seem really down to earth. I like his reasoning.

I thought you were married, hmmm?? =P

It’s hard to find a guy like this who appreciates a good conversation with a person at a bar without thinking about taking her home for sex. He and I should be BFFs.

This guy is AWESOME for writing this! I am with you that if it is offered I will accept. However, there are conditions to accepting. 1)If the guy is a douchebag and it is obvious he is expecting to get into my pants, I will straight up refuse. 2) If I really am not interested AT ALL in him either as someone interesting to talk to or romantically I will politely decline but thank him for the offer anyways. 3)If I feel ok with the guy (as in he’s not a douche or serial killer and I could possibly be friends with him) but I am broke and wouldn’t be able to return the favor later, I will decline and say something like “Thank you but I didn’t bring enough cash or my credit card, so I won’t be able to buy the next round.”

I have a female friend (I use the term loosely) who definitely acts like the pretty hipster girl he describes. Its annoying to no end because on the rare occasion that I am the one noticed instead of her she will bully her way into the conversation and flat out ask “Hey, you’ve been talking to my girl for a while now. When are you going to buy us drinks?” Yes. I wish I was kidding. Hence, I barely hang out with her anymore.

I applaud this guy. Way to go for him!

Haha what she actually says that? Glad you don’t hang out with her anymore!
