Just because you’re single doesn’t mean Valentine’s Day has to be a depressing holiday. Here are 5 tips on how to not be bummed out on Valentine’s Day.
1. Don’t be alone!
Just because you’re not in a relationship doesn’t mean you can’t hang out with the other loved ones in your life. Round up all your single girlfriends/guyfriends for a night out on the town, cook dinner for your parents, visit homeless shelters — there’s no shortage of people who need company and you’re actually not alone.
2. Lower your expectations.
This isn’t the same as saying you don’t deserve a good time. If you do have a date lined up, don’t expect anything out of the ordinary if you haven’t been seeing this person very long. Save that stuff for long-term relationships! Look at your Valentine’s Day date as just a fun night with someone you enjoy spending time with.
3. Buy yourself Valentine’s Day gifts.
Valentine’s Day chocolate is the best kind. Why deny yourself of it if you’re single?
4. Remember, romantic candlelit dinners aren’t the best for your eyes. They can strain your vision! If you’re not on a romantic candlelit dinner date, you’re doing your eyes a favor.
5. Break tradition by trying something new.
Don’t waste your time moping around on Valentine’s Day. Use the time it gives you to try new stuff or learn new hobbies — maybe you’ll meet someone!
