It’s now February, and Valentine’s Day is fast approaching. The day that lovers give chocolates, and teddy bears, and roses, and all sorts of things to each other - sure is an event most people look forward to. But then, I’m pretty sure you must have thought about this too. What’s a good gift to get her/him??? Here’s my sort of short list of some good present ideas.

1. A nice and pretty necklace

I’m sure every girl out there appreciates nice and pretty jewelry. And they probably will keep good care of it and wear it whenever they are on a date with you. I do see how this is probably only a gift that males would give to their girlfriends. It’s a sort of symbol of affection and it evokes the reaction, “Awww, thank you!!!” *hugs. Girls are happy when they receive pretty gifts! Or just gifts in general - it shows that you care about them.

2. Flowers

Yes I know. Flowers are part of the image of “Valentine’s Day.” But I find that many people sometimes forget to buy the roses. Roses make your lover feel loved. So do get them some flowers. And it’s a very romantic gift. Oh, that is, if your lover isn’t deathly allergic to pollen - or hates flowers.

3. Chocolate

Chocolate is a must. Unless your lover doesn’t like chocolate - then that’s a different story and you should get them candy. But, personally speaking, I get so happy when I see chocolate. And especially if my boyfriend gave me a box of chocolates. Then it gives the message, “I don’t care if you pig out on chocolate, I still love you.” Isn’t that sweet?? And chocolate is delicious. You should always get them chocolate.

4. Let’s combine the above two - Chocolate Roses

Yes, these exist. And they are so pretty to the point where I don’t want to eat them. First of all, unlike real roses, these don’t die. They can rot after a REALLLY LONG TIME, or melt, but it’s actually a really cute gift.

5. A Handmade card

This can be slightly cheesy. But there are a lot of people that just want to receive a heartfelt card. It’s better to make your own card with something sweet written by you that doesn’t just contain the typical cliche phrases. And it’s from the heart, what can be better than that?

6. Movies

A little date at home - you can pop in a movie on your fancy DVD player, prepare some popcorn, get blankets and pillows, all in the comforts of your living room. There will be nobody to bother you. It’s just you, your lover, and the movie.

7. A new camera

A new camera for the both of you to record all your happy moments together. And you can spend time together looking back at the pictures in the future and laughing about it.

8. Homemade Dinner

Sometimes I feel like couples enjoy homemade dinner more than restaurant food, even though the latter may taste better. You like the homemade food because the person you love was the one who made it, right?

9. Take her out shopping

And pay for what she wants. If she’s a nice and caring girlfriend, she won’t make you spend too much. But don’t make a fuss if the shoes she wants are crazy expensive. You can lightly suggest her to try on another pair of shoes. Other than that, let her choose what she wants. Sometimes if you pick a dress for her, she might not like it and then there goes your “perfect gift.”

10. A watch

Yes, men value watches a lot, especially those nice ones. It makes them look very classy

So here’s my list. Yes, some of the gifts seem like very typical Valentine’s Gifts. But I still love them and you can’t really have a good Valentine’s day without chocolate. Or at least, that’s what I believe.
