If the fates and destiny have situated you on the “single” pedestal for this year’s proclaimed holiday of love, don’t be too bogged down since it’ll all work out for the better. And if that’s too cheesy for you, I’ve come up with some alternative ideas that will entertain you enough to not mind having a labeled significant other.
1) Take some me time and pamper yourself.
Rejuvenate all of your best features from head to toe by spending some time to try out a fun, new nail polish color that you’ve been eying. Or invite another single gal friend and either go out or give each other a mani-pedi that will really have you feeling like new again. If you aren’t one to paint, relax your angst and stresses with a spa treatment, like a massage or a facial, something that will really put you in a good mood with how wonderful a pampered up you can feel again, ready to take on anything.
2) Cross something big off your bucket list (or start one!)
Let your adventurous side run free and choose a new experience to try for the first time. Something with an adrenaline rush would make for a fun experience, things like bungee jumping or skydiving are good options for a one-day activity.
3) Pick up a new skill or hobby to try
Get your mind off of anything and spend time learning something you’ve wanted to learn how to do. Whether it involves a yummy recipe that you’ve seen while browsing the drool-worthy dishes on the Food Network channel or crafty things, like knitting or crocheting. Be proud of whatever you end up creating since that something wonderful came from your own hands, not to mention your newest accomplishment to show off next time.
4) Call some friends for a mini-party
If being alone puts you in a sad mood, call up all your single friends without plans (or couple friends who aren’t celebrating) for a fun get-together where the mood is chill and you can just enjoy each other’s company. Game night, movie marathon screenings, wild night on the town, nighttime bonfire - ideas are endless and you’re sure to be having a great time doing anything when you’re with your best group of mates.
5) Spread your own love around
Who says you need a significant other to only give heart feelings too. Show those you care about with something nice, like a scrumptious baking gift or a sweet card that will make them smile. Or go even further with your love and kindness spread to your local community or a nearby volunteering option. Being good to the world will make so much good love karma come back to your tenfold later.
No matter what you end up doing on the big V-Day, remember that it could be different next year, that you’ll have someone to partake in this cheesy, love holiday. But this year, it gets to be all about you, and that’s something that is worth reminding yourself that you are someone amazing that any person next year would be super lucky to have.
