Everyone wants someone who can be with them for a lifetime, but would you rely on “heart-syncing” to determine would you’d be with for the rest of your life?

Ramesh Rao, a professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of California thinks you should. As the leading researcher in heart-synching, Rao says that it can find out how much two people are attracted to each other and a physical and emotional level.

According to Rao, our heart beats can sync as a result of our hearts’ magnetic fields entangling. Entanglement can alter heart beats and under this pseudoscience, are indications of how well our date is going.

“If your date is stressed or uncomfortable, her heart rate will go up,” Rao explained. “But if she is relaxed and into you, her heart rate will calm down and get flatter.”

To measure heart-synching, a device called Polar RS800CX is used. It’s a “sleek, silver gizmo that straps around your chest and wrist to measure heartbeats per minute and heart rate variability (HRV), the time between beats.”

This sounds a bit stunning, but it can be very believing. It’d also be nice to know if the date is going nice or not, but it would be kind of awkward getting attached to a monitor all the time.

Would you want to know if you and your date’s hearts were in sync?
