For a relationship to work, both sides need to give and take a little if they expect it to get anywhere.
The first no-no in relationship’s is fighting unfairly. Don’t use dirty tactics if you do get into an argument. Watch out for instigating, using sarcasm, fighting just so they could say they are right instead of reaching for a solution, changing the subject, or immature acts of ignoring the problem or person. Those tactics lead to larger problems in the end.
Do not hold grudges against each other. If you do something wrong, make sure the other person sees that you regret wronging them. Talking it out or giving each other some space is healthier then keeping the grudge throughout the relationship.
Refusing the others help and relying only on yourself should be avoided. In order for a relationship to have trust, you must be able to rely on each other for somethings. If you want independence, just stay single then.
Something that automatically leads to an unhealthy relationship is cheating. Couples that face one person cheating usually break up because they can’t handle the infidelity. If the cheater tries to keep it a secret, the guilt will slowly eat them up and break up the relationship on its own in most cases.
